Nicu Staff Nurse
About the job
A Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse cares for neonates with a variety of disorders, ranging from common neonatal diseases to life-threatening illnesses. NICU patients are typically unstable and require ongoing monitoring and interventions. NICU nurses provide direct and specialized nursing care to patients by applying scientific nursing concepts.
Job instructions
In addition to basic nursing care, has responsibilities in coordination with the Senior Nurse Executive-NICU that include (but are not limited to):

- Provides culturally appropriate care to patients.
- Assesses, prepares, implements, and evaluates patient care plans in collaboration with other members of the health-care team.
- Accepts handover from exiting staff based on patient allocation.
- Takes inventory of the area instruments and articles as assigned by the Lead Nurse Specialist.
- Reports any problems encountered in patient care and safety to the Lead Nurse Specialist/Senior Nurse Executive.
- Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, such as ventilators and other biomedical devices required to provide care.
